This article features the best electronic ultrasonic rat & mouse repellent we found. We’ve also discussed on the rationale behind how electronic rodent repellents work, what’s our thoughts and what are some of the things to note when using one.
How Ultrasonic Mouse Repellers Work?
Ultrasonic repeller repels rodents by injecting intense auditory stress to the environment (achieved through what is known as the animal behavior modification).
Ultrasound is a frequency of sound too high to be heard by humans but is able to irritate rodents. Using non-repetitive frequency levels, it causes discomfort that rodents are not able to become habituated to (some frequency replicates the sound of a dominant male rodent which discourages these territorial pest from inhabiting a territory).
Unlike rodent poisons or traps, ultrasound does not kill or capture but seek to provide a long-term reduction in rodent population by creating an unfriendly environment that deters and discourages rat & mice infestations.

The company offers life-time guarantee for every purchase.
The SWIZON ultrasonic rat and pest repeller uses ultrasound waves of diverse frequencies that cover the sensitivity range of most vermin and insects. It works at both ultrasonic wave (20KHz -65KHz) and bionic wave (10KHz – 25KHz) that annoys vermin.
It features a sensor night light function where it intelligently switches on when it is dark and off when it is bright.
This electronic repeller works in rooms no larger than 150 sq meter (use more devices for a bigger space).
This Solar Powered Repellent By HappyHomey emits sonic pulse every 20-30 seconds, and is designed to deter moles, voles, gophers, shrews and other burrowing rodents (an audible beep can be heard during each wave emission).
It features a high sensitivity infrared detection that also emits a strong ultrasonic signal when the animal enters the range of set up (prevents the rodents from being accustomed to the sound). It has an effective area of 625 square meters and for maximum spread of the sonic and vibration, an installation of every 10 meters or so is recommended.
To Install – Connect the wire inside the bar and the solar plate, then connect bar and solar plate before inserting into ground.

Things To Note
Ultrasound will be reflected by hard surfaces and absorbed by soft surfaces. Avoid placing device behind a couch or vase. Curtains and carpet can also reduce the effectiveness of ultrasound waves.
Ultrasonic frequencies also can’t pass through walls, hence multiple units need to be placed in multiple rooms.
We think that simply plugging in an Ultrasonic repeller is not enough to send rodents running for the door and out into cold especially when there’s food & shelter in the house. It is essential to also incorporate traps and baits in conjunction with Ultrasonic devices (also, the sound waves cause rodents to scurry around, driving them right into the traps).
Ultrasonic Mouse Repellers (manufactured properly) can work to a certain extend in deterring rodents and even some insects. However, they are likely to only deter rodents for a short period of time until they find out how to avoid or simply adapt to the noise.
